Thomas J.
Daluisio is a native of Buffalo, New York. He has been
working with wood for the past 30 years, building everything
from rocking horses to libraries. It was not until 2005 that
he started turning bowls, urns, and creating pieces of art
from Australian burls. The unique characteristics of the
Eucalyptus tree, which is native to Australia, enables
Tom to create delicate and distinctive works of art.
After relocating to Gloucester County, Virginia, Tom was
then able to expand and open his workshop where he now
spends the majority of his off time turning works of art on
his lathe. With his creative talents and his desire to take
this art form further he is creating new tools and methods
of turning wood. This can be seen in some of his latest work
which is becoming popular among collectors. When asked how
his abilities as an artist have progressed he replies with a
quote from Michelangelo when he was 87 years old, "Ancora Imparo", which in Italian means... still I am learning.
